1958 — Childhood

Born in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania

Raised on a family farm, learning the values of hard work, integrity, and community from an early age.

1976 — Education

Scholarship to Penn State University

First in my family to attend college, pursuing a dual degree in economics and education.

1982 — Career Beginnings

First Leadership Role at Meridian Financial

Appointed as the youngest branch director, introducing community-focused financial literacy programs.

1995 — Community Impact

Founded the Ellsworth Community Foundation

Established a nonprofit dedicated to educational access and economic empowerment in underserved areas.

2010 — Recognition

National Civic Leadership Award

Honored for three decades of service blending financial expertise with grassroots community building.

Chapter One

Roots & Foundations

Growing up on the Ellsworth family farm taught me more than any textbook ever could. The rhythm of seasons, the weight of responsibility, and the quiet dignity of labor shaped my understanding of what it means to build something lasting. My father, a third-generation farmer, believed that the measure of a person was not in what they accumulated, but in what they cultivated for others.

Those early years instilled a deep respect for education as a path to opportunity — not just for myself, but for everyone around me. When I earned that scholarship, it wasn't just my achievement; it belonged to my entire community.

Chapter Two

Building Bridges

The transition from corporate finance to community development wasn't seamless — it was a leap of faith. In 1993, after over a decade climbing the ranks at Meridian Financial, I realized that the systems I'd mastered were designed to serve those who already had resources. The gap between opportunity and access haunted me.

Founding the Ellsworth Community Foundation in 1995 was my answer. With seed funding from personal savings and a handful of believers, we began offering micro-grants, mentorship programs, and financial literacy workshops in neighborhoods that the mainstream institutions had forgotten.
